In case anyone's forgotten what a bigoted turd we have for a prime minister:
John Howard's latest move to block recognition of gay marriages
"It was reported today that Mr Howard is planning the radical reforms to defend traditional families."
Because gay marriages are such an obvious threat to the viability of traditional families. (Well, i guess it is when you use 'family' as code for god-fearing, gay-bashing, hate-your-next-door-neighbour-but-don't-forget-to-say-grace conservative values).

He may have made a drunken ass of himself but at least he had the balls to admit he fucked up and was sorry. Though on the other hand he didn't really have much choice, and i also remember watching an interview in which he carefully evaded questions on his drinking problem, and thinking i'd respect him that bit more if he would face that one head on.
Who knows, maybe someone will finally be willing to take that sort of risk and it will prove a roaring success.
