ruby blues au-go-go
Jan. 13th, 2007 09:17 pmAfter months of meaning to but not getting around to it, last night we hopped on the train up to Belgrave to visit Ruby's Lounge, the only decent pub we seem to have within an hour's commute from here. I really like that place - hope it doesn't change too much when it gets sold. The decor has a bit of the feel we want for our place too, with a somewhat schizophrenic mixture of Victorian, deco, oriental and other retro kitsch (though red walls would make small rooms here too small). Pity it's not within walking distance.
They were playing some old blues tunes on the cd player when we got there, which i found myself quite liking (another sticky summer night kind of thing, this time making me think of all sorts of New Orleans cliches). If i'm not careful, my precious musical closed mind might be in danger of slipping an inch or two.
Tonight i seem to be in faux-sixties go-go mode, listening to Shocking Blue, Little Murders and The Stems. I blame Get Smart again.
Time for some Passion Pop soon. That'd be nice.
