Thought i'd try that Ten Celebrities I Fancy meofme going around, just to see if i could actually think of ten i do fancy (enough to notice). Eventually i've come up with, in order they've come to mind:
1. Jennifer Tilly
2. Janeane Garofalo (finally looked up the spelling)
3. Singer from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4. Do the Spazzys count?
5. Zombina
6. Petra Yared (Layla in MDA) (yes i did have to google)
7. Isabella Rosellini
8. Claudia Karvan
9. Bjork
10. Jacqueline McKenzie
It's interesting that it took me all morning to think up ten names (rather than narrow it down to ten) - i guess i just don't do celebrity crushes so much. It did make me wonder if it's because i'm trying to be too counterculturally cool to let myself stoop to celebrity worship but, on thinking about it, i think it's more that i don't think of people i see on the screen as quite real. Perhaps it's the knowledge that they are often there in the first place because they're considered more attractive than most to start with, as well as the army of makeup artists, wardrobe consultants and special effects tricksters there to enhance it, so maybe a 'celebrity' has to be twenty times as interesting to stand out than if they were just someone i saw walking down the street. Plus, i guess there's also the fact that, with actors in particular, it'll often be the character i fancy, not the player, so that tends to add confusion. (Same goes for singers and musos, to a lesser extent perhaps, as they might also be playing a character, moreso than Regular Folk anyway).
At the end of the day, it's hard to think of any 'celebrity' that i couldn't name a dozen people i know off the top of my head who are far more attractive.
(And no, i'm not making that list - the last thing i need is you lot thinking i'm secretly lusting after you all the time).

Date: 2005-06-23 03:38 am (UTC)She's usually been the only 'celebrity crush' i've been able to think of, though i could never spell her name.

Date: 2005-06-23 11:53 pm (UTC)They look a bit plastic and modellish there, but when they're being cute bratty rock chicks they're, well, cute bratty rock chicks.
But if they get successful enough, i'm sure someone will polish the brattishness out of them and make them bland and beautiful and boring.
