darren_strangerStaying in last night for lack of money, listening to Rosetta Stone's 'Eye for the Main Chance' for the first time in ages and skanking and pogoing around the lounge room (making a dick of myself in private for a change), i decided that that album's not oldschool goth at all - it's punk rock with Sisters riffs instead of power chords. Shit i wished i'd learnt to play bass or guitar when i was younger and had time to do things.
Spent a couple of hours handing out Greens leaflets outside the local supermarket today. A couple of Liberal leafleteers were there as well, and we chatted about the fact that you can still be friendly and civil even if you're batting for opposing teams. Nice enough folks, even if i can't fathom why they'd support a worm like Howard, but it was a good reminder that tolerance of other views doesn't have to mean agreeing with them (which is why it's called tolerance in the first place). i think that's something i have to try to keep sight of.
Also spent some time afterwards chatting to an old Croatian chap called Nikolai, who looked like Bela Lugosi and talked about everything from taxation policy to building fortifications in Yugoslavia in the '50s for an anticipated Russian invasion, to my name being Darko in Croatian and the fact i resembled his son-in-law and must have some Norman ancestry (which i believe is correct). Wish i'd had more than a half hour to listen to his story.
My mid-ear piercing is infected again. i don't think i'm meant to have one there. Bet my nose does the same when i finally get it done (which is precisely why i still haven't gotten around to it - bloody wuss).
Primitives, Sugarcubes, Adam Ant, Plastic Bertrand and Bow Wow Wow videos on Rage tonight - better dig out that '80s tape to add them to.
We have one bottle of cider between us and no money for another. It's a tragedy. A bloody tragedy, i tell you.
