In case anyone is unsure of just what the Family First party is all about (or, like me, was fooled by their website into thinking they weren't a right-wing fundamentalist party) check this out (via Usekh).

"A SENATE candidate for Family First has called on his followers to "pull down Satan's strongholds," including mosques, Freemasons' temples, brothels and bottle shops. The comments are in a leaflet quoting Victorian pastor Danny Nalliah. The disclosure comes just a day after Prime Minister John Howard defended a preference-swap deal with the conservative Christian party in 109 Lower House seats. Mr Nalliah, who heads the Catch the Fire Ministries, is on the Family First Senate ticket in Victoria. In a recent "Rise up Australia" call-to-prayer pamphlet, Mr Nalliah told followers to ask the Lord to give them insights. "Spot Satan's strongholds in the areas you are living in (brothels, gambling places, bottle shops, mosque, temples-Freemason/Buddhist/ Hindu etc, witchcraft)," the leaflet says. [..]"

"Religious party Family First has disciplined a campaign volunteer for saying lesbians should be burned to death. The man's comments came shortly before a group of youths hurled eggs at Greens supporters on Sunday from a passing car at Dayborough, in the marginal Brisbane seat of Dickson.
[..] Greens candidate Howard Nielsen said moments before the attack, the youths had been listening to anti-gay rantings from the Family First campaigner that "lesbians are witches and should be burned to death". "There were about three or four of them who had chatted animatedly (with the campaigner) for about 20 minutes, jumped in the car, bought a stack of eggs by the sound of it and drove past three or four minutes later throwing eggs at our people," he said."

"Queensland's Family First Senate candidate John Lewis said Liberal candidate for Brisbane Ingrid Tall was not getting his party's preferences because she was a lesbian. Mr Lewis said Ms Tall would not get his preferences because she did not fit the profile of a basic unit of family - which involved a man and a woman. [..] Family First has said it would swap preferences with Ross Cameron, the Liberal MP for the Sydney-based seat of Parramatta who publicly confessed to an affair while his wife was pregnant with twins."

Bad, bad people on the rise..
