Didn't make it out to see Ikon last night, as Elaine was rostered on to work today at short notice. Hopefully they'll play again soon.
Instead, we stayed in and watched a movie called 'House of the Dead' which, based on the out of context screen shots inserted at seemingly random moments, appears to be a movie length advertisement for a new installment of the game of the same name. i'm also 85% sure it was meant to be a parody of the teen horror/slasher/zombie flick, a la Scary Movie etc minus the slapstick gag-a-minute, but played straight with a relentless parade of cliches that couldn't have been meant as anything other than a pisstake. i'm in two minds as to whether it actually worked - it was definitely convincing as an 'unintentionally' bad movie, a very very bad movie in fact, but i don't know if it actually made it to the level of So Bad It's Good that it seemed to be aiming for. (That is, we both thought it was utter crap, but in reflection we did laugh out loud and heckle the tv screen, so if that was the idea i guess it worked a little. Not even going to contemplate the possibility that they didn't intend it to be a bad movie - my brain might melt).
Tonight we'll hopefully head out to catch Mach Pelican at the Old Bar, providing kiddie terrors haven't worn Elaine out totally.
