What would you good folks recommend for a decent, low-cost airline to fly from Sydney to Melbourne?

I'm rather fond of Virgin Blue. :)

Thanks.

Seems to be the consensus.

VIrgin Blue seems to be the choice of companies these days. More available cheap fares, and not dodgy like jetstar or tiger :)

*nods* Virgin are cheap & reliable. The other two are dirt cheap but notoriously unreliable. If you can afford to not fly on the day you specify, and a few dollars is an issue then the other two might be worth a go but for my money Virgin is the way to go.

Not Jetstar!

Why? Pity I can't give you my credit but it has to be in my name.

i dont think jetstar go direct Melboune (tullamarine) to sydney anyway, its from Avalon to Sydney, or melbourne to newcastle

so virgin blue would be better

Virgin's always been good.

I've heard enough people say "never again" with Jetstar to steer away from that one.

Agree with the others, Virgin Blue

I use Webjet to locate who's cheapest when. Virgin comes up quite a bit, even if the low-cost airlines make me nervous.

So do I: Webjet for the full range of times and prices, then I go to the individual site to book (without the booking fee). Usually, I end up on Virgin Blue or Qantas.

Virgin.
Avalon is a pain and a waste of time to get to and Jetstar arent any cheaper.

I've heard a few "never agains" in Jetstar's direction, so Virgin's a more likely option. Thanks.

Not that I'm a jetsetter (last flight was in 2002) but Virgin Blue were good then.

A word of caution though: what you're paying for with Business Class is the leg room. If you're tall (and I seem to remembering seeing pics suggesting you are), that leg room's going to be more important to you than most.

I'm about average height (170cm/5'8"ish) and it's a short flight, so it depends on the prices. Thanks.
