"crapulous: sick from, or marked by, excessive drinking"
Strangely enough, i don't feel too seedy today, despite drinking rather a lot last night.
A nice relaxing time at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and i finally managed to spend most of the time sitting around chatting rather than dancing, which is what i'd much rather be doing on a night out. I do like this new venue - more of a bar feel than a disco, lots of tables and booths to sit at and not centered on a dancefloor as the main focus. I realised last night that not only does it remind me of 9th Ward in all the redness, but the curtains are also reminiscent of the Velvet Lounge where Psychonaut started - echoes of two of my favourite club venues in one.
Few people came out before midnight, whether or not the word got out that the venue still had an early close, and again it was a rather abrupt end as people were just getting into it, though i do like the novely of getting home by two (that'd be my old age showing, i fear). Whenever this 4am licence does come through, it'll probably suit the monthly night much better.
The existing times do make me think once again about the notion of an early opening/closing bar, as a pre-clubbing thing for those that want a big night out and an instead-of-clubbing alternative for those that don't (the old Blue Velvet days came up in conversation quite a few times last night). Perhaps there'll be room for another Blue Velvet some time, that will stay just a pre-club thing and not try to become another discotheque.
But i'm rambling.
Anyway, here was my setlist, for future reminiscence:
March Violets - Religious as Hell
The Cure - The Baby Screams
Accelerated Men - Love/European/Nothing
Screaming Banshee Aircrew - Banshee Aircrew
Zombie Ghost Train - R.I.P.
Dresden Dolls - Girl Anachronism
Devo - Gates of Steel
Lacrimosa - Deiner Eines Geistes
The Damned - Anything
Rosetta Stone - Something Strange
Merry Thoughts - Pale Empress
Siouxsie and the Banshees - This Wheel's on Fire
The Redresser - Pleasure
