Zombified!
Apr. 30th, 2005 06:17 pmZombie Ghost Train gig was awesome, as expected.
Jay observed that there's a real vibrancy at these psychobilly gigs, something i've noticed before too. It's like all the energy and abandon of a punk gig with the style and excess of a goth night. Best of both worlds.
I missed Wild Turkey and the first burlesque performance, but the Sinshifters rocked most pleasingly (i particularly liked Eddy Fury's death metal vocals at times). There was another brief burlesque peformance between bands (the music was dodgy but i liked the sassy attitude) then they formed a cheer squad for the arrival of the Ghost Train lads. Were the band good? Guess.
I haven't slam danced in so long i've actually forgotten how (and the method seems to have changed, with the American flailing arms style seeming to be the fashion now) but just dancing and letting the collisions happen of their own accord seemed to still do the trick well enough for the moment.
Had a great night, and enjoyed the walk home as well (seemed to be a shorter walk than from Dream, though i would have guessed the distance to be much the same). I should go along Little Bourke Street more often - i keep thinking the concept of 'Chinatown' is an anachronism these days, but i love all those stone lions and gateways etc that i didn't realise were still there.
ZGT are playing anoher in-store gig at Route66 on Sunday, though the opinions on playing times varied anywhere from 11.30 to 1.30. I'm planning to wander by about midday just in case.
Oh, and their new cd is wonderful, maybe even better than the old one.

Date: 2005-05-02 06:52 am (UTC)The implication that you yourself did anything close to slam dancing, rather than simply quiver arthritically like myself, is necroquifftasticly risible!
As for ZGT, they were perfect except for the music, which was OK, but not great - I can't remember any of the hook lines now. I was expecting something a bit more like Deadbolt. Still, I'm glad I came - thank you Darren - except of course for the walk home back to Ascot Vile.
