Sorted.

We've got a place, rent affordable, round the corner from where we are now, still with our favourite pub as our local. It's a little decrepit outside, but in the way that we like, and inside is lovely and should be just big enough for us (though we have to shed a lot of stuff regardless).

Of course, for all of that at a price we can afford, there has to be a catch. This one is in the shape of an outside toilet, but for the $100 odd a week difference i estimate that'd be making, we can live with that. (Somebody remind me i said that, come winter).

Anyway, we like spiders.

Now to get ready for the unpleasant business of packing, disassembling, moving, reassembling, fixing, scrubbing, disconnecting, reconnecting, redirecting..

Outside loos aren't so bad. Is it least undercover to get to in case of rain?

No, but we'll sort something. (They said we can put a cover up, but i'm wary of doing too much to someone else's place).

If it comes to it, at least that'll give us somethign not to miss if they sell this one out from under us one day.

Like everyone says, rigging something up should be easy and cheap - assuming the back yard is suitable.

Outside loos aren't too bad unless you've got exposed pipes outside as well - you know, the sort that freeze up over winter. Then it gets a bit irritating.

But how lovely that you've found a place that you like and can afford!

Congrats on finding a new home in your neighbourhood! I've become so used to bumping into you and/or Elaine that it just wouldn't seem right for you to have to move out.

Outside toilets aren't so bad - yeah, sure, going out on a cold rainy night isn't so good, but it doesn't happen so often and if you can rig up some sort of cover it will make life easier. It's one of those things that are worse in idea than reality, I found. My home in Flemington has an outside toilet. It's okay.

Congrats on the new digs.

I lived in a place with an outside loo once and to be honest it hardly bothered me. In fact, when I was looking around for a terracey place recently I decided I'd go for an outdoor loo place because the $$ savings outweigh the inconvenience.
:)

Like, say, leaving a brelly by the back door? Hell, the collapsable jobbies are less than 10 bucks these days.

An inconvenient convenience. Hah!!! I crack me up!

Congrats on the new home. It doesn't seem to have been as painful finding a place as it might have been.

When my friend lived in the farmhouse at Bena & had an outdoor loo, with no power, it was kind of an adventure to go out there & light candles contemplating the world by candlelight.

Come to think of it, that could have been dangerous. Luckily we never had a problem.

There was also something kinda fun, when you were in the place on your own, leaving the door open & looking across the hills to see all the sheep. Not that I necessarily recommend that in suburbia. Just got me reminiscing, thats all.
