As soon as we're in the money again, first thing i want to buy is a decent pair of black jeans. Op-shop chic may be fun, and black denim environmentally unkind, but i'd like to have just one pair of pants that aren't either saggy-arsed old-man style or faded to slate grey. Next pair will be snug fitting and so black that small objects will be drawn in and crushed to a singularity.

[Edit - i probably should rephrase that last sentence, but what the heck?]

On that trivial note, who's going to Cabaret Nocturne tonight?

Mmm, high density jeans.
;-)

I'll be in attendance tonight.

Re-reading that, the 'small objects crushed to a singularity' is probably one of my most unfortunate choices of phrase.

Might see you there (if i don't fall asleep before i get out the door).

:)

I dunno, I thought it was amusing, and apt in its own way.

Have you considered Hard Yakka (or similar) work pants instead of denim jeans? The are bum hugging when they fit properly, are a nice black and look smart. Glenn no longer wears denim jeans - just Hard Yakka work pants (-:

No out and about clubbing for us country folk (-:

Hmmm - are they saggy down the back of the leg though? The good ol' fashioned Levi classic fit seems to sit nicely, though the pair i've got are the aformentioned slate grey now (still, i guess they're lucky to be in one piece, since i bought them second hand about five years ago). Might even go for something more stretchy, as long as they don't look like leggings with pockets.

I'm dying to get out'n'about clubbing this week - have only set foot in a goth club four or five times in the last year. Punk and ska gigs are fine and all, but i want to spend some time being a poncy goth too (even in grey jeans).

Well, they don't hug the back of your thigh...they kind of just fall straight...perhaps if you are in the city you could pop into Sam Bear on Russell Street and try some on...Sam Bear also has good prices on jeans (-:

Thinking of such...those Williams people...RM Williams? Make country man cloths, any way - they make moleskin (brushed cotton) straight leg black jeans...pricey but snazzy and stretchy with a tight leg and bum hugging....Sam Bear sells them too (-:

Have fun being all poncy!! I'm going hom to play with the lambs (-:

You know you can re-dye your favourite pair of jeans. Dylon, or Rit make decent-quality dyes and if the jeans aren't simply worn-out, the cotton will take black dye nicely. Instructions on the packs are easy to follow (not that I'm suggestong you *need* easy to follow instructions, but if you're not used to dying it can seem like a lot of work...which it isn't).

That should have read "If you're not used to dyeing"...

There's nothing wrong with faded-grey jeans.
