I've wanted to learn a little about T'ai Chi for a while now, but of course didn't have the time to go to a class (along with everything else i'd like to learn but don't have time for). But i found an instructional video at the opp-shop a few weeks back and figured that's as good a place as any to start.

Finally this morning i had a chance to start watching it and working through the first few movements. It has a whole pattern on there of about 40 movements, and it's taken me all morning just to get my head around five, so this will keep me going for ages.

As i expected, one thing that's hard is trying not to just slip into the sort of movements and stances i've been doing for most of my life from Tae Kwon Do, though i was surprised to find in his explanation of those first few movements i've already come across a new way of looking at or explaining our back stance to front stance transition (seems going so slow and analysing each minute movement allows a different perspective). Interesting.

The use of various moves to direct the flow of ki for the wellbeing of different organs is also an interesting angle and i'd like to find out more about that as well.
