Mar. 14th, 2005 09:32 pmSpent yesterday at a referee course. That was fun, and i ended up spending a fair bit of it teaching some of the first-timers things in role-plays, which made me feel like an old hand instead of a not-as-rank-as-some newbie. Hopefully that feeling will linger and be good for confidence too (as the last competition i refereed i made a bad call in the first match and then kept stuffing up after that, no doubt due to a shaken confidence from that first error. One of the other refs even metioned three months later that he could see me looking uncertain from another court. Not having done it for a year didn't help either). Getting assessed at the club comp next week, so that should be a lower-stress way to get back into practice.
We couldn't afford to go to Golgotha last night, but noticed Dandelion Wine and Sobriquet were doing semi-accoustic sets up at the Empress, which was a more affordable option. Unfortunately, we didn't think to check what time they started, and by the time we stuffed around we got there just in time for a call of Last Drinks and the final two songs of Sobriquet's set (and the night). Bugger. Ah well, had to happen sooner or later.
Saw Constantine today, courtesy of a voucher we got for Crassmas. Not bad, though the ending was predictable and unsatisfying. Looked great and the price was right though.
Jay S gave me a cd of his old band the Accelerated Men. They rock(ed). Must pick a song to work into the set for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. (Going to need two hours the way it's going). Also discovered the Screaming Banshee Aircrew (again courtesy of Jay). Fuck yeah.
